TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Another of the nine people charged in a holdup that ended with one person dead entered a plea Tuesday.

Bayate Covington pleaded no contest to reckless second degree murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated battery. In exchange, seven other counts were dismissed.

The murder charges stem from the July 2011 shooting death of Natalie Gibson. Police say Gibson and her partner, Lori Allison, were in a carport at their home when they were confronted by gunmen, robbed, then shot.

Allison was wounded, but survived. Covington testified against several of his co-defendants in the case.

The dismissed charges were related to a string of other holdups that summer.

Sentencing for Covington is set for July 18th.
