Berkeley Kemper, 6, (left) and Karis Selk, 7, donate a $5,000 check to the Jessica Joy Rees Foundation on August 1, 2014 (WIBW)
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Delicious treats added up to a sweet reward for young people battling cancer.
On Friday, 6-year-old Berkeley Kemper and Karis Selk, 7, returned to Hy-Vee to share the wealth from the "Courageous Cupcake" stand they set up there last weekend.
The girls' efforts raised $5,000 for the Jessie Rees Foundation - Never, Ever Give Up. The foundation makes "Joy Jars" items to bring joy to children battling cancer.
It's a struggle both girls know well. Both are cancer survivors - Berkeley is fighting Leukemia and Karis is officially in remission from a brain tumor.
