TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Shawnee County is pricing residential recycling bins as curbside service moves forward.
The county will need about 45-thousand recycling bins when curbside service starts next year.
An electronic scanning option is being considered, that would allow recycling trucks to automatically scan containers as they makes residential pick-ups. The information would allow the county to track the use of curbside recycling. It would also assist in confirming pickups if customers claim they were skipped.
