TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -Safe Kids Shawnee County, sponsored by Community Action Inc. conducted child safety seat inspections today at the Topeka Fire Station No. 11 on Lower Silver Lake Road this afternoon.
Certified technicians met with drivers to lend their expertise on child safety seats.
With a task that seems as simple as following an instruction manual to install in your vehicle is often a process done poorly.
Technician Gilberto Chabarria says, "Nationwide three out of four car seats are being used incorrectly so we have trained technicians to show how to install them correctly and make sure children are in the appropriate car seats for their age weight and height."
Technicians at the event also pointed out the importance of reading the owner's manual as well when installing child safety seats because they will also have information on car seats tailored to the modifications of your vehicle.
