TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Community support is saving a local Topeka business.
Grover's Smokehouse was scheduled to close Sunday, but owner Mary Berger decided to keep things cookin' after an outpouring of community support.
Berger said business at the restaurant doubled after signs posted on doors announced Grover's would be closing August 11.
Berger was planneing to re-open the location in September as something "new."
The community is hungry for something local, Berger said.
"We'll stay open as long as the community supports local mom and mom businesses," Berger told 13 News Monday.
Grover's is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Grover's is located at 1217 SW Gage.
