TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__City officials are hoping resources and services in the Hicrest neighborhood will provide a boost to the community.
A town hall meeting was held in the NET-Reach Center at the former Avondale East Elementary School.
With the Neighborhood Empowerment and Transportation program and Community Resource Council now collaborating under the same roof, the meeting hoped to spread the word that residents have a place to go when they are in need of help.
Topeka resident Zephyr Williams was excited to see the process in motion. She said, "I have hoped and prayed for something like this to happen and it's so good for the community because its such a great place to live."
In June, Topeka city council members unanimously allowed both the CRC and NET-Reach programs to operate in the Hicrest neighborhood.
