Commissioners Consider 2nd Claim Over Chlorine Release

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County Commissioners will consider paying medical expenses for a second teen exposed to chlorine in an incident at Blaisdell Pool.

Kevin Hahn submitted the claim on behalf of his son.

Pumps at the pool lost power overnight in June and, when a worker manually restarted them, it sent a burst of chlorine into the water where the Topeka Swim Association was hosting practice.

Several swimmers went to the hospital and required breathing treatments. Commissioners previously approved paying one family's claims for medical expenses.

It is not known how much Hahn is seeking in his claim.
