TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The City of Topeka Friday revealed a new plan for rebuilding a stretch of Gage Boulevard.
The revised proposal would limit construction on Gage to between 33rd Terrace and 37th Street, allowing for two way traffic at all times along Gage.
Crews would work on the east side of Gage first, followed by the west half.
The original plan called for completely closing Gage between 33rd and 45th, from April thru Mid-November.
Local businesses protested, and even filed a lawsuit to stop it.
The alternative plan, covering a smaller area, will cost an estimated $1.1 million. The original project was $2.5 million.
