Chief Officer Retires From Kansas National Guard After 42 Years Of Service

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas National Guard ushered one of their very own into retirement after over 40 years of service.

Chief Warrant Officer 5, Ron Reed of Salina enlisted as a private in the Kansas Army National Guard 1970.

He rose through the ranks in various maintenance positions until 1990 and had some very special people to thank along the way.

"Behind every good soldier there is a good spouse and she's been that for me for the entire time. It's been an honor to serve the Kansas National Guard and the U.S. Army and its a second family to me Ii'm humbled by the number of people that showed up today to honor my 42 years of service and without them i wouldn't be here. I'm glad there are a bunch of great people serving our country," said Reed.

Reed says his proudest moment is being able to serve the Kansas National Guard and the wonderful family he has.
