Charges Dropped In Morris County Burning Case
COUNCIL GROVE, Kan. (WIBW) - Charges have been dismissed against the man accused of setting a Council Grove man on fire.
Isaac Wilson was to stand trial this week on a charge of aggravated battery. Morris County prosecutors had said Wilson used rubbing alcohol and a cigarette lighter to set 54-year-old Sterling Law on fire last October. Law suffered burns to his hands, face and stomach.
The Morris County court administrator confirmed Tuesday that the charges against Wilson were dropped. Calls to Morris County Attorney Laura Allen on Tuesday to find out why the decision was made have not been returned.
The U.S. Attorney's Office investigated whether the case fell under federal hate crime statues but ruled it did now.
