Truck Ignites Fire In Emporia Home Blaze

The Emporia Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire early Saturday morning that spread to a home.

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW)--The Emporia Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire early Saturday morning that spread to a home.

The Fire Dept. was initially called out for an accident at 901 E South Ave. around 12:15 a.m. While en route, they were informed that the truck had caught fire and was up next to a house. The fire then spread to the home.

The male driver was life-flighted to KU Med Center after being attended to by a bystander first then by the first arriving ambulance crew. The severity of his injuries is unknown.

The fire was contained to the vehicle and the exterior of the house. There was some smoke and heat damage that entered the structure through a window that broke from heat damage.
