TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka residents will be seeing a new bookmobile roaming the streets next year thanks to a generous donation from Capitol Federal.
The Capitol Federal Foundation announced a $200,000 donation Thursday to be put towards a new bookmobile, which will make it's debut next spring.
The Topeka and Shawnee County Library has two bookmobiles right now, but the vehicles are getting older and older and need to be replaced.
"It's a large expense that comes up once every 20 years, so it's really something that's difficult to budget for, and to have someone like Capitol Federal come in and pay for the vast majority of that vehicle, which is an expensive vehicle, is just tremendous and we can't thank them enough," said Thad Hartman, Community Services Manager at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.
The traveling library will be stocked with new books, movies, music and magazines.
