TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A settlement regarding Westar Energy's rate increase request is underway.
Westar is seeking a net rate increase of $31.7 million to cover costs incurred in meeting new environmental protection agency requirements.
On Saturday, the Citizens Utility Ratepayer Board filed testimony stating the increase should be $30.6 million.
The release says residential, medium businesses and public school customers should not see a rate increase.
Public comments on the increase were due Monday September 23. The Kansas Corporation Commission will meet this Thursday and Friday to look over the request.
A final decision which must be reached by December 2nd.
