(WIBW) - It's not necessarily what the thief took from a building in rural Louisville, but what he left behind that makes the crime unusual.

An apology.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat says someone broke into a building at the County Landfill, 8585 Wheaton Rd., sometime between 9 pm Sept. 19 and 7:30 am Sept. 20. An employee reported the building had been ransacked.

Riat says damage to the building was estimated at $250 and a small amount of change and cash was taken from the building. Riat says the suspect left a note at the landfill saying they were sorry.
