TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A local candidate running for national office says he's undeterred by the odds of winning.
Topekan Randal Trackwell says he is running for president as a candidate of the Bull Moose or Progressive Party.
The Bull Moose Party was founded by former President Theodore Roosevelt in 1912. At a small gathering of half a dozen people near the Kansas Expocentre, Trackwell said this year being the party's 100th anniversary was the perfect time to "take care of America."
The Republican and Democratic Parties were "Globalism Parties," he said.
"You don't have to take to the streets and protest. You need to get busy and rebuild this party," he said. "Get some common folks elected. That's what it's all about. we gotta take the billionaires out of politics."
The 65-year-old has been trying for office, from mayor to governorship, since 1979.
