TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas Governor Sam Brownback issued a state of disaster emergency following last nights storms.

Brownback says the declaration will help make state aid available for counties affected by last nights severe weather.

More than 11,000 people are reportedly without power this morning -- 10,000 of those outages are in Sedgwick County, according to Westar Energy.

While damages are still being assessed across the state, officials ask that you not go into those areas for your own safety.
