Brownback Looking For Ways To Battle Kansas Obesity

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-The growing issue on battling obesity took center stage in Topeka. The Kansas Summit of Obesity addressed its alarming problem in Kansas today.

Governor Brownback admittedly stated Kansas is losing the battle against obesity and he knows kansas needs to act fast, saying, "For the first time, we are looking at a generation that won't live as long as its predecessor generation and the dominant issue is obesity. It's a three word message, don't give up!. There are people that love you and your friends want you to succeed and they are here for you and we want to work with you.

Kansas schools can also join in on the fight against obesity by applying for a Healthy Habits for Life grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation.

October 15th is the deadline for the grant which helps schools deliver healthy programs that encourage kids to lead active lives. More information about the grant is available at
