Benches and playground equipment installed

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)--Jacob Bohlender spruced up the fraternal order of police lodge Saturday, installing benches and playground equipment for kids and families to enjoy.

It's a community project for Jacob's eagle award--the highest award given to Boy Scouts.

Jacob lost his father in a police helicopter crash when he was just five years old.

He says the support he received from other officers made such an impact, he decided to make this project personal.

Many close to him say they're proud of him -- and Jacob says his father would be proud as well. Bohlender is following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps as a scout.

He says if it weren't for the officers that stood by his side he would not be where he is today.
