Police Seize Suspicious Vehicle After Bomb Squad Clears Scene


TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__ Topeka Police detectives and bomb squad continue to investigate a suspicious vehicle, but the threat of any harm to the public has been eliminated.

Lieutenant Chuck Haggard tells 13 News bomb squad units have secured the blast caps found in the vehicle police were investigating in the 1200 block of NW Warren on the Kansas River around 5:45 Saturday evening.

Haggard says police obtained a search warrant on the van and seized the vehicle. The blast caps will be placed into safe storage until no longer needed as potential evidence.

The van registers to an out of county owners. Detectives are trying to locate the owner.
