TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded the boil water advisory for the City of Carbondale. The boil water advisory for Osage County Rural Water District (RWD) No. 5, issued at the same time, remains in effect.
The boil water advisory for the City of Carbondale and Osage Co. RWD No. 5 was issued on Sept. 18 because of the possibility of untreated raw water being pumped directly to the distribution system. Laboratory testing on samples collected from the City of Carbondale water supply indicate no evidence of contamination, and all other conditions that placed that system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved.
The system and/or KDHE will notify area media when the boil water advisory for Osage County RWD No. 5 has been rescinded. For more information, contact the Osage County RWD No. 5 office at 785-665-7223.
