RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Police believe extreme heat is to blame for a motorcyclist losing control of his Yamaha V Star motorcycle in Manhattan.

The accident happened Wednesday at 2:45 PM in the 5100 block of Wildcat Creek Road.

Officials say Robert Davis, 54, of Manhattan, claims he was riding his motorcycle and felt very hot and the next thing he remembers was finding himself in a ditch on the side of the road. Police think Davis blacked out, failing to negotiate a curve in the road.

He was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. Police say he was up and walking around when officers arrived on the scene.
