TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A collision between an SUV and a tractor trailer rig had I-70 traffic completely shut down Friday night.
It happened around 7 pm near the Maple Hill exit. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Chevy Trailblazer left the roadway and then entered the median. The driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to come back up into the eastbound lanes where it struck a guardrail and bounced off of it, into the path of the semi. The semi was pushed into the westbound lanes and came to rest blocking both westbound lanes.
49-year-old SUV driver Sherry Beck of Kansas City was transported by AMR to Stormont-Vail Hospital with possible injures.
The driver of the semi, 47-year-old Michael Anttila was transported to St. Francis Hospital with possible injuries.
Both were wearing their seat belts.
