TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) -- Each year the Arab Shriners find many different wayt to raise money for their childrens hospital.
Saturday morning the Shriners held a benefit shoot at Ravenwood Lodge to raise money for the hospital and the travel fund. It's an annual event that is going on its 20th year.
Participants, for a $35-40 fee, were able to move from course to course to practice their shooting on targets and clays.
The benefit was open to the public, but Public Relations Director Roger Farthing said many avid shooters make sure they are at each event.
Over the years the shoot benefit alone has raised approximately $70,000 for the cause.
"The travel fund is very big for us, because the kids that come to us, we want to help get them to and from the hospital," Farthing said. "We provide the transportation and the overnight care, so this is a big fundraiser."
He said the event is always a success each year, and the Arab Shrine is looking forward to raising mor emoney this year than in years past.
