TOPEKA, KAN. (WIBW)—At noon on Friday, August 12, you might just become a winner at the State Capital. Lieutenant Governor Colyer will draw ten lucky people to take home an original framed artwork, celebrating the Kansas Sesquicentennial. This drawing is commissioned by the Kansas Lottery.

The Kansas Lottery launched the “Kansas 150” instant scratch game in January to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Kansas officially becoming a state. The game offered cash prizes up to $10,000 and a chance to send in non-winning tickets in for a second-chance drawing.

The ten paintings were created by ten Kansas artists, who will all be in attendance showing their works of art. The artwork was to have statewide significance. The ten Kansas 150 Artists and the themes of their pieces are:

1. Joe Bucher – “Cattle Drive up the Chisholm Trail”
2. Michael J. Walsh – “The Train Station in Strong City”
3. Gary Ozias – “Kansas Pride, the American Bison”
4. Chun Wang – “The Wyandotte Convention”
5. Cathie Thompson – “Modern Farming”
6. Don Dane – “Native American Chief”
7. Susan Sinclair-Shields – “Kansas Aviation History”
8. Jamie Lavin – “Sunset – Where the Trails Divide”
9. Elaine Lierly Jones – “Famous Kansans”
10. Daniel Brewer – “Nicodemus, Kansas”
