"Band Of Brothers" Vet To Speak To Wounded Fort Riley Troops

FORT RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Warrior Transition Battalion and AUSA will host Earl McClung, World War II veteran whose character appeared in the HBO series “Band of Brothers” during his visit to Fort Riley on May 23.

Retired Staff Sgt. McClung was assigned to Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division between 1943 and 1947, during which time he parachuted into France on D-Day, fought at the Battle of the Bulge and climbed up to Hitler’s Eagle Nest retreat.

McClung will speak with WTB Soldiers on May 23 at 9:30 a.m. at the WTB complex about his three-year deployment and the importance of getting help upon returning home. He will also answer questions about his character on the HBO series “Band of Brothers”.

After lunch, McClung and a handful of WTB Soldiers will go to a shooting range in Junction City to test their marksmanship skills.
