TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Airplane enthusiasts, children and history buffs have one more day to enjoy a blast from the past at Billard Municpal Airport...
A World War II B-25 Bomber plane is currently on display for public viewing and even ride-alongs.
"Maid In The Shade," is a veteran bomber that flew 15 missions out of Corsica during WWII. Her pilots were thrilled to see such great enthusiasm and hunger for history from the locals of Topeka.
Pilot David Baker said, "It's a piece of history, and with the 28 years of restoration that this airplane underwent and the tribute we try to place upon the heroes of the wwii era, the local people have really come out and embraced it."
October 1st is the final day for the B-25 Bomber in Topeka.
Touring the plane is free but a five dollar donation is requested. Rides on "Maid in the shade," start at $395. All money raised goes back into restoration efforts to preserve the historical plane.
