TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--An autographed red, white, and blue Shelby Mustang rolled into Laird Noller Ford today.

Retired Colonel John Folsom has driven the American muscle car on the “High Five Tour” stopping at every state capital over the past 30 days, all to raise awareness for wounded warriors.

Now let’s learn the purpose behind the drive.

Colonel John Folsom is taking his Mustang on a mission.

"Kids and wives are affected, are torn up, torn apart. Emotions are affected. America has to remember, when America goes to war our families go to war,” said Colonel John Folsom.

That's why he says his passion is helping families of those wounded or killed during combat.

"Sometimes there are wounds that medicine can't heal,” said Folsom.

Contributions from local car clubs, Laird Noller Ford, and individuals will help provide aid to heal those wounds.

''It's the greatest cause there is. A lot of people don't know how hard it is on the families,” said Ricky Wright of Laird Noller Ford.

And everyone liked the opportunity to leave their own, individual mark on the Shelby.

This Shelby Mustang's been picking up signatures coast to coast. Many have signed for their wounded warrior.

"I signed for my brother killed in a B58 at Bunker Hill, Indiana. He was an air craft commander and the motor died,” said Leon Dultmeier.

"As a tribute to his son he signed it dad,” said Folsom.

“The attitude they had. I serve my country first, for the good of the country,” said Dultmeier.

The Colonel headed to Lincoln to finish off his 30 day tour.
