(WIBW) - Two men arrested early Sunday morning for breaking into a vehicle may be linked to 40 other car breakins.
Authorities say 18-year old Austin Brummett-Brown and a 16-year old male, both of Wamego, were caught Sunday trying to break into a car in the Walnut Grove Trailer Park in St. George. They say a resident witnessed the activity and detained the teens.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office says the investigation led them to believe the suspects may have entered dozens of vehicles. Authorities say the suspects are stealing items, such as lighters, iPods, and credit cards, from unlocked vehicles.
The Sheriff's Office says it continues looking for victims of the crimes. Those who believe they might be victims should contact Det. Gerald Schmidt at 785-457-3353
Brummett-Brown is being held at the Pottawatomie County Jail on $100,000 bond. The 16 year old juvenile was transported to a juvenile holding facility.
