Authorities Release Crime Stats From Country Stampede Concert

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office has released a statistical recap of the 2012 Country Stampede concert. The four-day festival was held at Tuttle Creek Park near Manhattan this past weekend, attracting more than 150,000 fans.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat says the stats represent a joint effort by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and the Riley County Police Department:

Minor in Possession- 106
Transporting Open Container- 10
Consumption of Alcohol by Minor- 8
Furnishing Intoxicants to a Minor- 1
DUI- 2
Illegal Drug Violation- 11
Battery- 5
Theft- 7
Obstruction- 1
Criminal Trespass- 2
Arrest by warrant- 4
Rape- 1

No other details on the crimes were released.

In addition to those numbers, members of the Kansas Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control were also present at the
Country Stampede and reported that they had 122 incidents of Minor in Possession and six incidents of Furnishing Intoxicants to a Minor.

As a result of the stats from all agencies mentioned, there were 24 arrests taken to the Pottawatomie County Jail.

Riley County commissioners also received a statistical recap of the concert from EMS officials who reported seeing 141 patients. In 2011, they saw 100 patients. Of the 141 patients, 31 sought help from EMS for alcohol problems while 42 were treated for heat-related issues.
