WESTMINSTER, CO (KCTV) - A body has been found in a Denver suburb but it's not clear whether this is related to the disappearance of a Colorado girl with ties to Missouri.
The body was discovered Wednesday evening near an abandoned mining shack on the Pattridge Park open space in Arvada.
10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway went missing on Oct. 5. Jessica was last seen Friday morning as she left her Westminister, CO, home, where she lives with her mother, to go to school. She never made it school.
Her father, Jeremy Bryant, lives in Independence, Missouri. He has traveled to Colorado to assist in the search for her.
Colorado authorities declined to say much Wednesday night about the discovery of the body.
"At this time, we're unable to make any connection to the disappearance of Jessica Ridgeway," Westminster Police Department Trevor Materasso said.
He said Westminster and Arvada detectives along with others will be working the crime scene throughout the night.
Police have said they are treating Jessica's case as an abduction and that they have cleared her parents as suspects.
Colorado authorities plan to give their next update on the case at 7:30 am Central Time Thursday.
