MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police say a 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Manhattan after receiving inquiries from local media outlets about a weekend incident on Kansas State University's campus.
On Sunday, August 11, 2013 around 4 AM, the Riley County officers responded to the report of a rape.
Officer Matt Droge, a spokesman for the Riley County Police Department, would not provide an exact location of the assault, telling reporters that it "occurred in the city limits of Manhattan." However, sources say a portion of Kansas State University's campus was taped off early Sunday morning with investigators at the scene.
The Kansas State University Police Department has not released any information. The RCPD is handling the case, K-State officials said.
Police declined to release any other details on the rape. An arrest has not been made and the incident remains under investigation. It is not known whether or not police have identified a suspect or if the suspect and victim know each other.
