Authorities Arrest 2 Following Wabaunsee County Manhunt

WABAUNSEE COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)-- Authorities have arrested two suspects with criminal records following a manhunt in Wabaunsee County.

A Wabaunsee County resident contacted authorities Monday around 12:40 p.m. when they noticed a neighbor's truck being driven by an unknown individual along Wabaunsee Road west of Alma.

The Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Officer and Kansas Highway Patrol were able to locate the vehicle, a 2003 Chevy 3/4 ton truck. The vehicle was loaded with several other items, according to officials.

The driver of the truck and a passenger drove the vehicle into a pasture and fled on foot.

One of the suspects, Shawn Kyle Morris, was located near the interstate around 5:00 p.m. and arrested.

The second suspect wasn't apprehended until Tuesday morning around 11:30 a.m. The man, identified as Troy Allen Claspill, was arrested at the old Gas and Shop, located at K-99 and I-70 junction, according to authorities.

Suspect information:

Shawn Kyle Morris -- white/male DOB: 5/20/1971 LKA: 623 Wayne St., Topeka, KS. He is currently being held in the Wabaunsee County Jail and is being charged with Aggravated Burglary, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Obstruction, and Attempted theft. His bond was set at $75,000 and he will be formally charged at the Wabaunsee County District Court later this week.

He was charged with robbery and false impersonation in a complaint filed in Shawnee County on August 29, 2012. Charge 1 was amended to 1 count of conspiracy in robbery. Charge 2 amended to burglary. He was awaiting sentencing next month, August 16.

Troy Allen Claspill – white/male DOB: 11/20/1981 LKA: 719 SE Green Street, Topeka, KS. He is currently being held in the Wabaunsee County Jail and is being charged with Aggravated Burglary, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Obstruction, and Attempted Theft. His bond is set at $75,000 and he will be formally charged at the Wabaunsee County District Court later this week.

Just got out of corrections on June 13. Had 5 Shawnee County Cases between 2006 and 2011, including drugs, 2 burglaries and 2 thefts.
