Auburn Elementary Students Learn About The Iditarod

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- Auburn Elementary students celebrated a far-away race Friday--the Iditarod.

That's the Alaskan dog sled race that spans more than 1,000 miles. Each year the students learn the history, math, geography and science of the race.

The morning students celebrated with the Iditarod banquet.

The event included a lunch of chili and whale blubber and Itditarod themed activities.
