AUBURN, Kan (WIBW)--A new class of do-gooders is now officially prepared should the need strike.
The Shawnee County Department Of Emergency Management announced members of the Community Emergency Response Team class are ready to take care of themselves and their communities.
Emergency officials say the grads are trained to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people in the event of a disaster.
They also learned how to recognize, report and respond to an emergency before professional first responders arrive.
CERT is a national volunteer program supported by federal grants.
