(Emporia Gazette) - The attorney for the man charged with beating a Council Grove man says what happened wasn't a hate crime.
The Emporia Gazette reports Isaac Wilson's attorney says the facts don't support such a classification. Federal authorities are working to determine if hate crime charges could be filed.
Family members say two men broke into 54-year-old Sterling Law's home, one doused him in alcohol and lit him on fire.
Sterling has said the men yelled racial slurs at him before he was set on fire.
