As Easter Approaches Churches Celebrate Good Friday

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - With Easter coming up this weekend, churches around the nation are holding services today to celebrate Good Friday.

The holiday is one of several days celebrated throughout the Christian Holy Week commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. With multiple services taking place this weekend, church members are putting in some extra work.

“Well we couldn’t do it without so many people being involved,” said Father Don Zimmerman. “From the people that are providing the liturgical environment and the different ministers, and so that takes a lot of different people to make it happen. It’s not just me. It’s all about everyone, and that’s a lot of work. But it’s also kind of a really spiritual, fun experience too.”

Celebrations will continue throughout the weekend with Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.
