TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A group of area children gave their time and money to help other kids.
Fifth graders from Wanamaker Elementary took time to read and play games with kids at the Salvation Army Day Care Center. Students also donated toys to the group.
For several years, each grade level at Wanamaker Elementary has adopted a different charity.
Teacher Jacque Gilbert's 5th grade class and their families collected more than $325, which went to gifts of mister potato heads and puzzles for the day care students.
After those purchases, the students had $85 left, which they presented to the Salvation Army Day Care, along with bags of animal crackers for each student.
