TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - New and experienced archeologists got a chance to dig into the history off Highway 24.
The 2012 Kansas Archeology Training Program, conducted by the Kansas State Historical Society and the Kansas Anthropological Association, is taking place in Topeka at US 24 and Menoken road.
Researchers are digging up clues to how the Kansa native american tribe lived and hunted.
The group chose the area because a Highway 24 road project will soon disrupt the site.
