Inmate Escapes Custody While Taking Out Trash

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- An inmate escapes from police custody in Leavenworth, Kansas.

29-year-old Raheem Armstead escaped from police custody today while removing trash to one of the outside dumpsters.

Armestead ran from the escorting officer at approximately 1:00 P.M. today.

The subject is described as a black male,6'3 inches tall, with a slim build. He also has tattoos on his chest, back and the right side of his neck.

Armstead was last seen wearing a green and white striped jail uniform and tennis shoes. Authorities say the subject was last seen running in the southwest direction from the Leavenworth Justice Center.
