(WIBW) - A Chanute woman was killed when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car in Allen County.
It happened just before midnight Thursday on Highway 169, about a mile northeast of Iola.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Savannah Stoneking of Valley Center was eastbound on Oregon Road and started to make a left turn onto the highway, turning in front of the southbound Honda Shadow motorcycle. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Stoneking and her passenger both suffered minor injuries.
A passenger on the bike, 42-year old Tina Dixon, was killed. The driver, 45-year old William Hegwald, was taken to KU Med with serious injuries.
KHP says neither was wearing a helmet.
The online KHP report indicates the motorcycle had two other passengers who were killed, but it does not identify them or include any other information. Authorities were working to confirm late Thursday whether the online report was accurate.
