Afternoon Blaze Destroys Topeka Home

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A hot situation for firefighters responding to a fully involved Topeka house fire Saturday afternoon (7/7).

Officials say the blaze broke out at 1311 NW Jackson, just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters say flames first broke out on the back porch of the home.

Neighbors called emergency responders and said the fire sounded like an explosion. Officials say the family was on vacation and no one was injured.

Firefighters extinguished flames by 4 p.m. Damage to the home is estimated at $24 thousand.
