Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell would like to remind voters that Advanced Voting in the Election Office begins Monday, February 18th and ends at noon on Monday February 25th for the February 26th Primary Election. Also, starting Monday, his office will extend its office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for voters wishing to vote in advance in the Election Office. The Election Office is not open on Saturdays or Sundays.
A Primary Election is only being held for the offices of Topeka Mayor and Topeka City Council for Districts 2 and 5. Only voters residing within the city limits of Topeka are eligible to vote in the Primary Election.
Voters also have the option of requesting an Advanced Ballot be mailed to them. Those wishing to vote in advance in this manner may either download an application from the county web site at www.snco.us/election/ or call the Election Office at (785) 266-0285 and request an application be mailed to them. Completed applications may be mailed, faxed, or hand delivered to the Election Office. The fax number is (785) 266-0299. The last day for the Election Office to mail ballots to voters is Friday, February 22nd.
Voted mailed Advanced Ballots must be returned to the Election Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, February 26th.
Polling places are accessible to voters with disabilities, but those voters with special needs who require curbside assistance should call the Election Office at (785) 266-0285.
