RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Traffic was slow moving on K-18 in Riley County Monday night after a number of accidents in the heavily traveled construction zone.

The highway was shut down in both directions near Murray Road after 6 PM, causing major traffic delays and diversions.

Officials say officers responded to a three car crash near Scenic Drive and Fort Riley Boulevard. The vehicles were in a ditch. Two minor injuries were reported at the scene, according to police.

Officers were also called to an accident near the airport where they found a vehicle in the median. No one was injured in that accident.

An RCPD spokesman says during the same time frame, a driver came to the Riley County Police Department front counter to report that they’d been in an accident on K-18 where they were struck by a red truck.

Officials believe the three accidents are related and that the truck could have been involved in the three separate crashes.

No other details were released by police Monday night.
