Accident On Manhattan's K-18 Claims Life

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - An accident in Manhattan involving several vehicles left one person dead.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened around 7 am Friday on eastbound K-18 on the bridge coming into Manhattan. At least three vehicles were involved.

KHP says an occupant of one of the vehicles somehow ended up beneath the bridge. Authorities are investigating whether the person fell or jumped out of the path of another vehicle. That person passed away. Authorities had not released an identity as of mid-morning Friday while they continued notifying next of kin.

Authorities could not immediately confirm the accident was due to icy road conditions, however slick bridges and overpasses were reported throughout northeast Kansas Friday morning.
