LYON COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)-- An injury accident closed a section of Southbound I-35 in Lyon County after the noon hour Tuesday.
A 2001 Volvo Sedan, driven by 53-year-old Dimitri A. Dimitroyannis, was northbound on I-35 when it left the roadway, lost control and crossed both northbound lanes into the center median. The car struck a Honda 4D, driven by 75-year-old Nancy E. Cornelius, in the left lane of southbound I-35.
Cornelius was flown by LifeStar to Wesley Hospital in Wichita with disabling injuries. A passenger in the Honda, 77-year-old Kay L. Cornelius, was transported by EMS to Newton Memorial Hospital in Emporia before being LifeStarred to Wesley Hospital in Wichita with disabling injuries. Dimitroyannis suffered possible injury but refused transportation.
All three were wearing their seat belts when the accident happened.
