AT&T Makes Large Commitment To Education
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - AT&T made another large commitment to education today.
Representatives from the company joined Governor Brownback and Secretary of Commerce Pat George today to make the announcement.
AT&T committed another $250 million nationwide to their "Aspire Program", on top of a previous $100 million.
The program helps high school students graduate and prepare for careers and college -- something Steve Hahn, AT&T Kansas President, says is very important in today's job market.
"AT&T is a big company," Hahn said. "Even in a downtime economy AT&T is constantly hiring. And the jobs today are ever more technical, require ever more critical thinking and flexibility. So AT&T and all business in the state of Kansas and across the country has a real stake in a well-prepared, educated work force."
The Erie School District received $200,000 through the previous grant.
