TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A state review found concerns with the operations of the sexual predator treatment program at Larned State Hospital.
The Legislative Post Audit Division identified three areas that need improvement. They found the sexual predator treatment program did not have adequate policies or controls to ensure keys and doors were secure.
That security controls to prevent and detect prohibited items were inadequate and that some staff did not feel adequately prepared for resident altercations.
One auditor says the concerns must be addressed as the program prepares for the future. Agency officials told auditors they will not implement recommendations related to studying the feasibility of relocating all or part of the program.
