TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A state employee was honored today for saving Kansas thousands of dollars.
Governor Sam Brownback presented Chris Simons with a check for just over a $1,000. It represents a fraction of the more than $10,000 her idea saved the state last year.
Simons works in the Kansas Department of Administration, she suggested installing motion activated paper towel dispensers.
Brownback has put renewed focus on the state's employee suggestion program, which rewards state employees for cost-saving ideas.
