TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Newton Chamber of Commerce employee is accused of stealing from the organization.
43 year-old Kayla Tillery was charged yesterday with forgery and theft. Prosecutors say she forged more than $5,000 worth of checks in the name of the chamber of commerce and stole more than $25,000 from the Chamber's Newton Bucks Program.
The program encourages people to shop locally by spending "Newton Bucks" like cash. Tillery previously served time in prison for forgery,theft and criminal use of a financial card in Kansas and Arizona.
