TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Topeka Police Department announced Tuesday that they have charged five adults and four juveniles in one of the city's most recent homicides. They say some of the accused are certified gang members.
Natalie Gibson was shot and killed on July 21st, while pulling into her driveway in Topeka's Kenwood neighborhood.
Police say Ronald Wakes, Michael Wilkins, Anceo Stovall, Kevin Wilkins Jr., and Bayate Covington, ranging in age from 20-to-27, along with the four juveniles, are charged with felony murder and aggravated robbery.
They also face cruelty to animals and theft charges for the shooting death of a dog at 2801 S.W. Plass on June 25th, during an attempted home invasion.
Police say the work of Officer Matt Cobb led them to information and one arrest, which lead to the arrests of the others.
Police are still searching for 17-year-old Duane Richey, of Lawrence, in connection with both crimes. They say he may be extremely dangerous.
